What Do We Know About DeSantis?.....

Where did he come from? What other political positions has he held? How successful was he before being Governor? Any skeletons in his closet? Who supported him to get where he is now?

I really have not heard any journalist on the cable news shows give us any kind of background info on this guy? All I know is what he has done and is doing in Florida and that he wears white boots to a flood.

“Even those who disliked DeSantis respected his intellect. “He’s a calculated, cold-blooded dude, but he’s a very smart guy,” the frat brother said.”

“ “The biggest complaint you hear about DeSantis is that he never says thank you,” a veteran GOP strategist said. “People host events where donors give him enormous sums of money, and he never says thank you.” While reporting this profile, more than a dozen GOP donors, elected officials, and former DeSantis staffers predicted that DeSantis’s combative temperament would be a serious liability if exposed to the white-hot glare of a presidential campaign. People describe DeSantis’s personality as a mix of extreme arrogance and painful awkwardness. “He’s missing the sociability gene,” a prominent Republican said, relaying an oft-stated critique. “He doesn’t do the warm and fuzzies well. I was at a fundraiser in DC where he was like two hours late. Everyone was like, What the fuck?” recalled a GOP strategist.”

“ The Herculean job of smoothing DeSantis’s rough edges and repairing relationships falls to one person: his wife, Casey. A former local newscaster, Casey is by far DeSantis’s closest confidant and adviser, multiple sources said. “The only person he listens to is Casey,” a former congressional staffer said. DeSantis consults her on everything from hiring decisions and media appearances to policy positions and wardrobe choices.”

None of that bodes well for a presidential run. Right now he’s a big fish in a little pond. He jumps into the presidential race and he’ll be up against people who are just as smart and just as ruthless as he is.

He heaps praise on the people who vote for him. He’s charismatic as hell, difficult to say but true. He’s extremely social. How do you think he got all those people to do so much for him? He wasn’t an asshole to Cohen. DeSatan is a jerk to EVERYONE! Even those who are working for him. All it takes is one pissed off staffer to tank a campaign.

Perhaps he'll say thank you, so long as you kiss his ass backwards and sideways.

I also feel that people do so much for him, because he'll attack them ruthlessly if they don't. Cross him, and you'll put a target on your back, and then he'll set his minions on you.

I guess if you're saying that he's a complete Fake "social," then that's accurate. But in no way is it sincere. I doubt he gives a rat's ass for the rubes who send him money. Nor would he bother to thank them, except in expectation of future grifting opportunities.

For some people when they are someone be awful to someone else but they treat hm well it makes them feel special. That’s why his fans think he’s great. He knows how to get people to like him. (People with anti-social personality disorder are often very good at this…think Ted Bundy) DeSatan doesn't have a clue. I don’t think he cares which is a big mistake if you’re running for president.

Hopefully you're right, but for many repub voters, all that matters is "owning the libs," and having an (r) next to your name. All the people who love to HATE, will latch onto him.

And I can guarantee you that when he runs, he'll have handlers who will do their best to make him appear more likable, and get him to be, at least temporarily, more "sociable."

beyond “In disarray” more like active infighting. The former head had been the mayor of Miami for years yet managed to lose their vote. WTAF!

Yep, The MAGAts will vote for whatever R is on the ballot or just stay home. In the darkest corner of my mind I wonder how many more Rs than Ds will die from Covid between now and the election because they refuse to get the vaccine.

Even Wickie says he was JAG but left Navy Reserve and was Congressman for a while. Extreme right winger about covers it.

Born in Jacksonville, DeSantis spent most of his childhood in Dunedin, Florida. He graduated from Yale University and Harvard Law School. DeSantis joined the United States Navy in 2004 and was promoted to lieutenant before serving as a legal advisor to SEAL Team One; he was deployed to Iraq in 2007. When he returned to the U.S. a year later, the U.S. Department of Justice appointed DeSantis to serve as a Special Assistant U.S. attorney at the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Middle District of Florida, a position he held until his honorable discharge in 2010.

DeSantis was first elected to Congress in 2012, defeating his Democratic opponent Heather Beaven. During his tenure he became a founding member of the Freedom Caucus and was an ally of President Donald Trump. DeSantis frequently criticized Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. He briefly ran for U.S. Senate in 2016, but withdrew when incumbent senator Marco Rubio sought reelection.

In August 2018, DeSantis won the Republican nomination for governor, and chose state representative Jeanette Nuñez as his running mate. The close results of the general election between DeSantis and the Democratic nominee, Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum, triggered a machine recount. DeSantis was certified the winner with a 0.4% margin of victory.
