Gosh! The days where things were cheaper!

Just went into a Wendy’s here in Illinois! A double cheeseburger w/bacon and a large Frosty: $12.80! Also the cashier couldn’t not count my change right! I gave him a $20 bill and give me back a $1 and 20 cents! Humm! It took the manager to straighten out my change after they recounted the draw!

Geesh.

I went to a Five Guys last year. A burger, just the burger, was about $10.

My wife and I would get 2 burgers, 1 large fries, and 2 shakes when we were missing American food and it came out to about €60 with taxes. It's part and parcel of paying employees a living wage: stuff costs more.

It was at one of those gas stations where the cashier is in a small cube-like building, behind glass.

I got $10.xx worth of gas, and slid a $20 bill through the slot, waiting for my change. The cashier gave me something like $30 in change.

I explained to him that the amount of change was too much.

He hit his calculator again, and told me that $30 was the correct change.

It took me 3 or 4 minutes to explain to him that the change should be $9.xx, and that he was not hitting the correct buttons on his calculator.

Yikes.

I asked the checkout girl in the drive through why the big price increase so suddenly.

She said she had no idea. Corporate ordered a sharp increase on the past Sunday and customers
were angry with her. I said it's not your fault honey.

If you and your wife had gotten drinks that would have been $2.60 more.

It has a special taste at McD's.

It is always the same price, can't recall it going on sale.

If I am hungry I go to Taco Bell and get three crunchy tacos.
Those prices are high now too.

As I understand it, not all the McDonald's have them. Also they might be cancelled at any time.

They had a burger for $.99 too but we always got the other $.99 items for a great meal at less than 3 bucks and you could have all the crackers and sour cream you wanted for the chili and potato too. Used to be a favorite stop for us on road trips.

The first time I ever had one was at Wendy's, probably 35 years ago. My son was a teen-ager and his first job was at Wendy's. So now I make them myself at home because Wendy's doesn't have them any more. At least the Wendy's around me stopped serving them probably 10 years ago.

I like watching old TV shows on DirectTV. A couple of my favorites are Adam-12 and Emergency. Yesterday I was watching an Emergency episode and they drove by a gas station. 43 cents a gallon!!!!!!

I remember when I was around 10 we were headed to our lake lot for the weekend. My dad stopped at the Holiday gas station and it was 68 cents or something. My mom said was too high and we went somewhere else to fill up. LOL

McDonalds still has a dollar menu of sorts; it’s now the $1 $2 $3 menu. The best Deals IMO are the McDouble and the McChicken - both under $2.50 (I think). That’s enough food for me. Not exactly healthy, but that’s a different issue.

Thu Feb 2, 2023, 11:46 PM
Feb 2023

In my first car, there was a small "clicker" that plugged in under the dashboard. Cost to repair...about six bucks.

Dealer diagnosed why the sound level sometimes is deafening. After $169 diagnostic, repair authorized to replace the amplifier. Part: $498. Labor estimate an additional $475.

Does an electronic audio notification using the radio's amplifier maker my life better? I think not. A thousand dollar complication is un-necessary and a poor design decision.

End of rant.
