Why is Manchin playing along with a totally bullshit Republican talking point?

I realize Manchin is pretty far right for a Democrat, and fossil-fuel friendly, but he's got to know this "THAR COMIN' AFTER YOUR GAS STOVE!!1!!!" bullshit is just right-wing red meat.

And pairing up with Ted Cruz on anything?

What's his game here? Scared about a Republican challenger for his next election?

Acting like that's what's going on is a bullshit scare tactic Republicans (and apparently Manchin too) are peddling.

If Manchin next joins up with Josh Hawley for a "White Lives Matter" bill, is that okay too, because, well, "all lives matter", and the bill won't really have any harmful legislative effect?

US Safety Agency to Consider Ban on Gas Stoves Amid Health Fears

A federal agency says a ban on gas stoves is on the table amid rising concern about harmful indoor air pollutants emitted by the appliances.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission plans to take action to address the pollution, which can cause health and respiratory problems.

“This is a hidden hazard,” Richard Trumka Jr., an agency commissioner, said in an interview. “Any option is on the table. Products that can’t be made safe can be banned.”
