This bit of seditious trash is clearly a product of the Communist inspired and Soros financed recruiting wing of the BLM movement!

I just read the description on Wikipedia and I'm hard pressed to understand what was found to be objectionable.

Of course, Wikipedia isn't known for its attention to detail, so the story may have elements not discussed on that web page.

That's a no-no with white supremacists. They started out attempting to kill Black History,
appears they added Asians, Native Americans & Mexicans will be next.

It celebrates a part of Asian culture, and that ain't "MURICAN!"

DeSantis wants a book that shows "The Yellow Menace!"

The objection has nothing to do with the content. This is the problem knowledgeable people have in debating things like this. They debate the issue even though reality is that the people advocating the position have no intention of defending it on any rational basis. They don't object to the specific content, they object to the people who wrote it.

Against the backdrop of a black sky, Mama and Little Star bake a giant mooncake. But as she puts the cake out to cool, Mama admonishes her daughter not to touch it. And she doesn't—until she wakes up in the night. Then, it's "pat, pat, pat" over to the mooncake, where she nibbles just a bit. Each night, there's more nibbling, causing the mooncake to change shape, until it's just a crescent. That's when Mama sees what's happened, but she isn't mad. It's just time to make another mooncake.

Although the story is slight (and there's no direct aligning of the mooncake with the stages of the moon, either in text or note), the gouache illustrations are excellent. Mother and daughter, both dressed in star-covered black jumpsuits that add bits of light to inky backgrounds, are intriguing characters who come alive through facial expressions. Little Star's impish looks are worth the price of admission. This has no roots in Chinese mythology, Lin says, but she associates it with Asian moon festivals. A complementary read for those holidays. Preschool-Grade 2. Copyright 2018 Booklist Reviews.

I can't understand what DeSatan is upset about.

Today’s “Velshi Banned Book Club” feature, Grace Lin’s “A Big Mooncake for Little Star,” shouldn’t be on the list at all. The glossy black book and its illustrations dig into numerous themes -- including a mother-daughter relationship rooted in understanding and love, the phases of the moon represented by the waning mooncake, and a celebration of Chinese heritage. The book was written to honor the Mooncake, or Mid-Autumn, Festival. Books like “A Big Mooncake for Little Star,” featuring non-white protagonists written by a non-white authors -- are necessary. “We each have our story and we need to appreciate each other’s stories,” says Lin. Chinese children need to see themselves centered in the pages of books. Chinese parents need to have that special moment before bedtime where they can read their young child a story – a story that celebrates their culture and makes them not feel so “other.”

That's the only place I can find that had it listed, and from what I can tell the district rescinded the ban.

but it is not explicitly "christianist" and it directs the attention to the stars and moon (and therefore, witchcraft, no doubt in deSatan's twisted mind).

I think we'll be seeing more of this, unfortunately. It won't just be racial and, gender based. You'll see more and more books banned because of what they view as anti-christian content. IOW, the devil's readers. They've always been around... just look at how much flack Harry Potter got when it gained readers of all ages. And the Harry Potter books are, at heart, about love, loyalty, and friendship. Something these rightwingers really know nothing about. But it sure does lead one to be "woke."

Back in the 80's they tried hard around here to get our herb shops closed down by banning the sale of loose herbs. That finally died. Well, most of the shops have closed now. But I'd lay odds they go after these again, whether they're still in business or not... just on general purposes.

Many of us have been out of the closet too many years... decades even... it'll be hard to get our supplies and we'll no doubt end up on lists trying to buy what we can find. Time to do what they did back in the old days...use usual household items. We'll all become kitchen witches!

My family moved from the midwest where my mother had enrolled us in the only religious school there, Catholic, even though we were Lutheran, to the Pacific Northwest and public school.

In second grade one of my textbooks was an anthology of folktales and stories from around the world: Russia, China, Mexico, Europe, Africa, "Momotaro" from Japan, Laura Ingalls Wilder's maple syrup chapter from "Little House in the Big Woods." I became obsessed with the folklore of PNW Indian tribes, read everything I could find in the town's tiny library about other countries and it snowballed from there. Uh oh.

Later in life my mother wept about allowing her children to go to public schools, that and feminism and liberals destroyed America. Books are dangerous! She really did try to force us to listen to her read Bible stories and reverse the damage, but it was too late. The public schools corrupted us.
