NEW WINDSOR — Bonnie Brennan won a seat on the Town Board Tuesday despite an attempt to portray her as having a criminal record.

And on Wednesday night, members of the Democratic Alliance and other supporters came to the Town Board meeting seeking to convince the man she defeated to resign and for the board to seat Brennan immediately.

In the closing weeks of the campaign, ads appeared in The Sentinel, a twice-weekly paper covering New Windsor and the city and town of Newburgh, that showed a mug shot of Brennan and a question mark.

Lawyer Michael Sussman of the Democratic Alliance said the mug shot came from a March case which was taken after Brennan's husband, who she accused of domestic violence, filed a cross-complaint against her. Her case was adjourned and eventually dismissed, Sussman said.
