Commentary: GOP must drop its myths about Obama supporters
Issac J. Bailey | The Myrtle Beach Sun News

snip//

I would say this more forcefully in a different setting, but that view is simply wrong - and harmful to the long-term viability of the Republican Party. The vast majority of the Americans - yes, Americans - who voted to re-elect President Barack Obama did not do it because they are looking for a handout or because they are lazy or because they want to be taken care of from cradle to grave.

It isn't because they are against capitalism or want abortion on-demand or want the budget busted or the deficit to remain above $1 trillion or unemployment to remain high, or want to see the destruction of marriage.

The bulk of his supporters took a look at all the evidence, put it into context and believed that Obama had earned a second term. No, they are not satisfied with where the economy is, but they know that creating 170,000 jobs a month - and almost 5.5 million in 2 and a half years - is much better than losing 800,000 jobs in a single month in a contracting economy.

snip//

They know that the job the president has undertaken is hard and complicated and has never been successfully done without mistakes made along the way by anyone who has served in that office.

They have morals, too, and a strong work ethic and pride and a thirst to make this country better - just like their conservative and Republican counter-parts, even if they don't agree on just how those things should play out in the real world.

Here is something else that the likes of O'Reilly and others must remember: The GOP will not win over enough of those supporters to win future national elections if the party continues to pretend that most of them are simply people looking for a handout. If that's where the party remains, it will experience more nights like last night.

is no longer a majority, and that is why President Obama won re-election.

Mara Liarson played this clip on NPR as part of her piece, and with a straight face (I suspect) and no commentary on its absurdity proceeded with her spiel about post election R soul searching.

They are still delusional. They seem to be digging in and doubling down on the stupid. On the air and in public they are creating the new meme for failure in 2016.

Should Fox News Fire Mara Liasson for Being Compromised by NPR?

[P style="color:red; font-weight:bold;"]WARNING:

The link source has a RW slant. It's and olde piece where the authors pretend that Liarson is compromising FOX by being too liberal (then she comes on NPR and plays clips of Bill OLIAR).

Right.

We're dumb.

We'll lap this right up.

Their sole purpose is to divide and conquer the people of our nation in order to profit from the resulting divisiveness.
Just once I would like to hear a rebut to the baseless, hateful, and intentional idiocy they spew about Americans each hour of each day.
I think they came close to exposing this vile trait on election eve when one of their anchors called out Karl Rove for using Republican math.

entities like foxnews and limbaugh feed the myth becasue it goes directly to the heart of gop'ers/conservative's built-in prejudices and bigotry and they MAKE MONEY off it. The typical gop'er/conservative deny the fact that a huge portion of their base are rural, white, uneducated and poor and collect (mooch) from the rest of us from all the welfare programs. They don't see it personally as "mooching", just like my my hardcore conservative mother and her "$250,000" medicare bill wasn't a "handout". Much easier to view the stereotypical "black welfare mom and her 12 kids".....

we all want and NEED to narrow deficit spending and quit adding to the debt and we will have to do it by spending cuts and raising taxes...no other choices are available. We all have to share in belt tightening, not just lower and middleclass

buying into the delusional rhetoric of RW talking heads.

There are no less smart, rational, empirical and reality-based Repubs, (the anti-Palin type) know these things but they are driven into the background. Some of them all but abandon the Party officially.

I was amazed at how stupid and ignorant these RW talking heads are! I never listened to them in radio, and only tuned in yesterday just to gauge their reaction. It was so amazing how delusional and ignorant they are.

Guess that I'm so disconnected with the RW "reality"

Win or lose they always double down on the stupid. That's how you end up with people like Michelle Bachmann. Then a few years later Bachmann is practically a moderate compared to the rest of her party.

We always think they can't get any lower, then they manage it. They're a hole with no bottom.

I'm perfectly happy with 35% of the electorate being as crazy as they want to be... crazier, even.

I like having Michelle Bachmann as the face of the Republican party. It's the moderates we want to beat.

I want the Republicans to be marginalized to the point that they only appeal to the underground bunker crowd.
