In fact, it would probably have cost them less in the long run.

(49,445 posts)They're quite willing to loan the US money, but not pay it in taxes. Ergo, they have the money, they just don't want to give it up.
Sort of like how poor people don't need any help because they can afford new sneakers. Or own a microwave oven.

(4,461 posts)... They spent billions stimulating the TV, radio and print industries. As well as the many pretend pundit, skewed statistician and unthinking tank jobs they created. The skin bronzer manufacturers and make-up artists did well too. And think of all the employees at Wikipedia who worked tirelessly to update the meaning of the word "rape" hourly for the last three months! We should be thanking them.

(5,275 posts)If an individual top tax rate of 36 % or whatever would force CEOs to can people why weren't businesses going belly up all over the place in the 50s when the top rate was 91 or 92% each year? I'd like someone to pose that to Boehner and watch him squirm.

(5,763 posts)Really, they intended to make a profit from those. Unfortunately, they can't write it off as a business loss on their income taxes.
Considering they got nothing for all that money, that is, Citizens United backfired on them, they might actually come around to seeing that just shutting up and paying taxes would be cheaper.
Um, but that's a joke. Of course they won't.
