I really love her but can't wait to hear what she thinks about Obama being re-elected! She gets her "information" from Newsmax.

I may be going to far describing her as "right-wing". She's retired union and a big union supporter but hates Obama. She's not a full-on supporter of all right-wing issues. The main part of her career was as a nurse at a paper mill.

There is the slightest chance she may surprise me. I really didn't hear her say much leading up to the election. I suspect she did not like Romney. If someone got to her on social security or medicare, she may have changed her tune. Usually you talk to her and think you got through, then she gets back to her Newsmax and friends and erases everything.

Their problem is that they are being replaced by young hispanics, african americans, gay men and women and open minded white people.
And they have no clue on how to communicate with these groups effectively. As long as the fundamental christians and tea baggers are influencing the republican leadership, they have no chance.

My point being the electorate is shifting. Make no mistake, they are being replaced by progressive Americans. This is the Republican party downfall.

The only young people who are progressive get the heck out of these backwaters and go elsewhere and the ringwingers grow stronger.

The target of the bigotry may change with the identity of the bigot but bigotry will remain with us and continue to be used as a political tool in the future.

If the economy seriously crashes for whatever reason you can expect to see a huge resurgence of bigotry, people for the most part vote their wallets.
