To understand who is in charge of the present Republican Party....

One need look no further than who the "Party" chose to respond to the SOTU address by President Biden.

They chose the former spokesperson for Donald Trump, during his time in the White House. Every time she came forward, she lied like a rug. She was consistent and retained the confidence of Donald Trump until the very end. It was embarrassing.

Sara Huckaby Sanders is now the Governor of Arkansas and "someone" decided she would be the best person to respond to Joe Biden after the SOTU.

For those Republicans that are pretending they are ready to change horses in 2024, that Trump is no longer on their radar, this shoots a hole in those pretensions.

The choice of Sara Huckaby Sanders proves that Donald Trump is still calling the shots in their Party.

Completely delusional. I think she actually believes her enormous and ridiculous lies. Deserving every bit of ridicule that comes her way. Her self-righteous indignation disgusts me.

They picked her cynically because she's younger than most of their crowd, she's won a statewide race (ugh), she has a name people recognize, and she's female.
I don't think TFG had anything to do with it. If he did, he would not have announced in advance that he'd be doing his own response after the speech. The only thing that stopped him was his rinky-dink platform melting down.
