Just think how you'd feel if your social security investments were in that mix. The rich and super rich can take those swings without suffering from dyspepsia. The rest of us probably ought to think more than twice when it comes to investing our life's savings there. And then there are people like my husband and me who ended up there due to an employment "benefit" and now are struggling with what to do with the 401 K that has been up, down, back up and now hovering over which way it will go. It recovered from the BIG drop plus a little bit more, but knowing exactly what we should do NOW is a big question and actually gives us more heartburn than the daily ups and downs.

The countries there which have most embraced the austerity thing are the ones having the most problems.

Our economy is also affected by what happens elsewhere, and the stock market is surprisingly sensitive also.

It has NOTHING to do with Obama's re-election.
