All This Talk Now About Re-Branding The Repug Party....

No matter what they do to create an illusion that they have changed - it will only be an illusion. Bottom line they will still be the SOP - Same Old Party. They will try to put lipstick on a pig - but it will still be a pig.

I know they will attempt to do this and I just hope that the American People will see through this and not fall for it.

“We have a choice: we can become a shrinking regional party of middle-aged and older white men, or we can fight to become a national governing party,” Mr. Weaver said in an interview. “And to do the latter we have to fix our Hispanic problem as quickly as possible, we’ve got to accept science and start calling out these false equivalencies when they occur within our party about things that are just not true, and not tolerate the intolerant.”

Yes, they may do the right thing for the wrong reason. But I know from experience that they can't co-opt women and minorities to their own ends. If they do it, they have to do it or their tokenism will be even more obvious. Once they commit, however, the party will change. The bigots will leave to form some irrelevant third party. They left when the Dems embraced civil rights and the Dems took a 50 year dive. But now the Dems are reaping the rewards for their actions. The same will happen here. Either the Republicans commit to being a diverse party and take a faceful of "look-in-the-mirror-that's-the-face-of-privilege" or they choose to die out as a party.

does not matter and won't until their batshit-crazy base dies off.

The crazies have the numbers and control their primaries and the grass-roots level. They invited the retrograde, dumb-as-rocks bigoted orcs, trolls and ogres into the party and saw them take it over. Tuff darts, Repukes. You made your procrustean bed and now you have to lie in it.

They control that batshit-crazy base through Faux News and other employees. If they want the tune changed, they already own the piper.

and they always come back to their roots. How could they not when almost no one is left in their party who doesn't support what they stand for now.

They've got more than a problem with intolerance; they've got failed social and economic policies across the board, period. The reasonable place they left behind decades ago has been filled and capitalized on by the Democrats.

Repubs pandered to the asylum crowd and seem surprised they only wound up in charge of the ward.

They can talk the talk, but I don't see them walking the walk anytime soon. Their base is opposed to the changes they'd need to make to be competitive.

the tea party. They would have to move more left. They will never do that.
They believe in money and lies too much.
A clue to whether they will change or not is the willingness of right wing media to tell the truth to their listeners.
