They're very Democratic Party leaning and it would be nice to add two more senators and a few more Democratic House Representatives to our column.

It can't be with a little more than half of a little more than half the votes, as my niece who lives there put it.

It has to be a strong majority.

Unfortuanately, congress controls the city government so congress would have to apply to congress for statehood which is currently impossible due to the republican controlled house.

The 13-star "Betsy Ross" flag. It's cleaner, IMO. All those stars on the current one look like an over-enthusiastic cake decorator got hold of it.

I'm not rooted in some tradition about how many stars are on the flag, but I don't like the round shape of the field aesthetically. I don't think it's appealing and I'm sure many agree.

Adding stars would ruffle the feathers of conservatives enough without finding opposition from those who are used to the square field. I don't think it'd fly (pun).

That would be perfect for 51 stars.

Even more perfect would be the chagrin of the racists and other assorted assholes who don't even know that Puerto Ricans are US citizens by birth.

Morons abound!

Puerto Rican's are citizens by birth, but that citizenship is granted by congressional act -- not by the constitution, and could in theory be taken away or otherwise limited.

One advantage of Puerto Rico becoming a state is that people born there will enjoy the same birthright citizenship as everyone else.

King Arther had a Round Table. I can see a Peace Symbol in the star field. I can also see Leonardo da Vinci's "Vitruvian Man"
The round star field goes back to our roots. It shows how we have grown. What's not to like?
