I live on the south shore of LI, in the Republican-dominated Suffolk County.

It was hit hard, and people lost their homes. Staten Island, a red county by any standards, was the hardest hit borough of my hometown, NYC.

My neighbor, a married woman with two children who lives in a basement nearby that was flooded, voted for Romney and posted to Facebook on election day, "4 more years of being screwed."

I don't know what to say. Not only do they lack compassion, they lack access to reality.
