Norfolk Southern whose train derailed in Eastern Palestine, has offered $25K to the town.

Norfolk Southern, the rail giant whose train derailed in Eastern Palestine, has offered to cut the town a check for $25,000.

But 5,000 people live there, so that’s just $5 a person.

Is heading for the Ohio River. I read some comments about that last night.

There needs to be some serious accountability in all directions on this one. That town may have to be evacuated and bulldozed like Love's Canal, NY or Times Beach, MO.

This whole thing is bullshit.

hell, what's a little pollution and death going to do to the shareholders.

Think of the board of directors. How will they ever sleep comfortably again?

There will be costs for remediation and monitoring. And funds set up for short term (and possible long term) medical issues.

Some of those costs will be shared costs, with local, state, and federal taxpayers.

The corporate accountants budget for malpractice costs.

Less expensive than doing a good job.

the people were forced to evacuate, people within a 1 mile radius, were allotted $2,000 per person to defray their temporary relocation expenses.

No doubt once they accept that 2k will that prevent them from filing lawsuits?
