Pentagon Says Iranian Warplanes Fired On U.S. Drone Over Gulf

WASHINGTON | Thu Nov 8, 2012 7:49pm GMT

(Reuters) - Iranian warplanes fired multiple rounds at an unmanned unarmed U.S. surveillance aircraft in international airspace over the gulf last week, but the craft was undamaged and returned safely to its base, Pentagon spokesman George Little said on Thursday.

....was it truly in international airspace as the Pentagon claims, or was it actually flying a recon mission in Iranian airspace? If I'm not mistaken, Iran claims a 12-mile limit outside their borders. Additionally, we have a very long history of flying manned and unmanned recon missions inside the airspace of foreign countries.

Remember, the NeoCons are actively pushing for a military confrontation with Iran and they have allies within the US government, US Intelligence agencies, as well as the US military.

It would not be the first time the US military/intelligence has stretched the truth about issues like this. Anyone remember the Tonkin Gulf incident, or more recently, the claims of WMDs in Iraq?

In the old cold war days, pushing the soviets to respond to airspace violations was a way to push soviet communication nets to expose themselves to surveillance.

What would happen if an Iranian drone was seen flying near the US over the Atlantic?

Faux is so happy to have something besides their ignominious defeat to talk about. And another reason to trash Obama.

I'm tired of war, I'm tired of spending untold millions on killing machines that lay waste to other peoples lands.

I'm fucking tired of schools being closed due to no money while more efficient death delivery machines are being cranked out day after day.

I am really so fucking tired of constant feeding of the military industrial complex while our country infrastructure swirls the toilet bowl.
