I do not want us to risk a Senate seat. That lets Kerry out.
I like Susan Rice. Susan Rice, however, is tied to this Benghazi shit. We do NOT need that.
I personally favor Wes Clark, but there are others. Bill Richardson comes to mind.

Or, why not Bill Clinton? He's respected all over the world.

Why let the crazy right wingers dictate Obama's choice for SOS?

(15,438 posts)Who cares what the Republicans say or think? She served President Obama well, and she's no shrinking flower. Let them grill her.
By the way, I heard she got her information about Benghazi from the CIA, and guess who was head of the CIA and had to resign? Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

(12,310 posts)Benghazi crap. For three years you moan and groan about Obama bending over and then as soon as the right wing says "boo", you role over and bend over. Fuck that!
Susan Rice is getting the Holder treatment.

If John Kerry is named, then there will be much pressure for my governor, Deval Patrick, to put Scott B(R)own back in the senate. Would like to see Barney Frank put up for the spot.

It's not like you will care what Kerry says or does as Senator anyway.
As much as you always bash Kerry (Uncle Ted liked him. Obama likes him, so does Biden speaks volumes), let's trade Senators.
You can have two GOP senators in Alexander and Corker, a filthy rich GOP governor (he is really like Romney), a GOP controlled state house/senate, Teabaggers who get elected to Congress (one lied about his mistress' abortion, the others are Anti-Obama bat junk crazy), a heavy red Southern state (TN) where ignorant pols (some DINOs) don't care until every election cycle.
Give us Kerry and Warren, but keep Brown.
At least you are from a blue state. Must be nice to have a Dem delegation that works hard, but never appreciates its own Senior Senator.
As for the SOS job, the Senator is very qualified, but he is needed in the Senate.
There is no problem with AMB Rice. She would do a very good job. B. Clinton has done great job helping Obama and Democrats, but it's time for others to have their shine.

(59,503 posts)make Brown the interim Senator. Not to mention, he would STILL have to win another special election.

(25,415 posts)Brown won't run again so soon. Lots of Dems in Mass will want that seat. It won't hurt the majority in the Senate now anyway.
Kerry has been lobbying for a long time and I think he is the front runner.

I will surprised if it is not John Kerry.

(24,096 posts)so would Susan Rice - it's nice to have such exemplary people to choose from.

(25,415 posts)I think Kerry being SFRC will have tons of experience. I want him as our next SOS. I am not worried about Mass this time. The people there had Scott Brown for a few years and rejected him in the end. All of New England is blue, House and Senate.

(24,096 posts)They are going Ben Gauzy on everything anyway, so let them. Since when should a big decision like that be up to those fuckheads?

(20,600 posts)in another thread, and I was not the only one who approved! He has worked in the Obama administration before, so why not again?
I'm a big fan of him, he is one of the last old school republicans, and that is a breed about to go extinct (think Lincoln Chafee, for an example). He is a sharp guy, and I was very impressed by his presidential campaign and his themes in that campaign. By the way, there are several other Duers who feel the same way!

(59,503 posts)for Obama to pick. I remember that Obama was not impressed when he thought Clark went overboard in attacking McCain's military past. I have not completely followed what Clark has been doing, but I think he has not been all that active politically since 2008.
As to Richardson - no. He could not get confirmed when he was wanted for another position. In addition, he impounded the 2004 NM voting machines to avoid exposing the fact that the voting machines in a few Native American areas were set to NOT record votes for Kerry. (The reason was convoluted, but involved the weights given to different areas in NM Democratic primaries.)
democrattotheend
(11,605 posts)And that is a stupid reason to deny John Kerry the spot. He has worked hard for Obama since the beginning, took a risk on him early on in 2008, and is very qualified for the position. He should not be passed over because of fears that we can't hold a Senate seat in Massachusetts.
There was nothing about Elizabeth Warren that made her so much tougher to beat than other Democrats in Massachusetts. There are plenty of well qualified Democrats who could run for the seat and there is no reason to think Scott Brown would be stronger against them than he was against Warren.
