to me how many college-educated whackjob conservatives there are, in places like say, Dallas (I've lived in the area twice :^p

By a very large margin. Only Austin voted by a wider margin for Obama. Austin, El Paso, Houston, Fort Worth, and San Antonio all went blue. It's not Texas that's crazy, it's rural Texas that is.

Edit to add Austin to the list.

Houston & D/FW. HOWEVER - it's not just rural. When I was last living in D/FW, not that long ago, the suburban counties, such as Collin & several others, voted humongously Republican, like 80-20.

Now Frisco (what used to be the boondocks), Wylie, Allen. But, I think the closer suburbs, Richardson, Addison, Carrollton, et al, went blue. Dallas county suburbs, not the Collin County suburbs such as Plano (Heroin capital of the world - rich kids getting smacked out).

I hear ya, but you'd be surprised.

a better title. "Best" and "Worst" equates intelligence with college attendance. I just feel obligated to bring this up. Some of the stupidest people I ever met were in college; some very sharp people never attended college.

We've still got a lot of work to do in this state to raise the consiousness of some of these bible thumpers. Sorry to have offended any DU Mississippians. I love MS and except for the fact that there aren't any bathrooms at the rest stops, it's a beautiful state and TUPELO rocks!

What we really need to do is figure out how to get those back-woods rural folks educated.
Anyone who can do that earns a Nobel Peace Prize for sure. I think POB is trying to do that by
urging to get free internet access to the rural areas? Yeah, we need some serious nation-building right here at home. My state is one the worst educated. Local newspaper even had a newspaper article front page below the fold that more or less bragged about it before the election. It turned my stomach.

To irrational beliefs regardless of evidence to the contrary. They hold on so desperately that they will create innumerable paradoxes, but will still fail to see facts or let go of those deeply rooted false beliefs. It is one of the reasons why organized religion is able to control their followers.

Sometimes, by showing, not telling, you are able to make in-roads. That is why the "kill them with kindness" sometimes works. Sometimes the show of force works too, though, that is diametrically opposed to most liberal beliefs.

In other words we can just be who we are and some people will see we are not evil and start to let go of their rigid beliefs.

Republicans on the other hand would beat you into submission & that is my rigid belief.
