Boehner: Willing to bring in more revenue by closing loopholes and ending certain deductions

He said Republicans are willing to accept "new revenue," while indicating that doesn't mean higher tax rates. Rather, Boehner said his party is willing to bring in more revenue by closing loopholes and ending certain deductions through comprehensive tax reform -- but only if Democrats are willing to deal, by making serious spending cuts and putting entitlements on the table.

"In order to garner Republican support for new revenues, the president must be willing to reduce spending and shore up the entitlement programs that are the primary drivers of our debt."

I wanted to scream when I heard that! Didn't their party's nominee just lose on that platform?

Rombot ran on closing mysterious loopholes and deductions and was soundly defeated! THE PEOPLE voted for President Obama's plan to make the wealthy pay a little bit more.

There should be zero compromise on this issue.

A leopard cannot change its spots, and Boehner cannot change his stance. He won't bend on anything and this stagnation will continue. Thanks, again, to the GOP.

Democrats need to be sage game-players as well.

I'm sure some savvy person could come up with a 'okay, here is what we suggest' and then let the Repugs dig their holes by dismissing each and every logical cut.

But 'There you go again' will just give them the 'victimhood' stance.

They don't care what the people want. They want what they want and they'll see the country go down in flames before they'll move an inch.

I don't know what could possibly move them. The only solution is to take away their power in the 2012 midterms. We need to have a GOTV drive equivalent to a Presidential election. I hope that the DCCC is thinking and planning for that. They need to use whoever did GOTV for Obama.

Boehner and his cohort will be up for election again in two, not Obama.

You want to fuck around in the most unpopular Congress in history. Fine, we'll see who gets the blame.

Doesn't this break his promise to Norquist? Grover considers closing loopholes to be the equivalent of a tax increase.

That's a huge deduction for working class people who own their homes, myself included. If Boehner puts those deductions on the table and allow the wealthy to keep all their tax deductions then you're going to have a massive revolt of voters!

entitlement "drivers" of this debt? Would like to see his figures on that claim. Only an effin' devious, duplicitous, disingenuous lying prevaricating dissembler would dissemble such crap-ola. Why doesn't someone invite Herr Boner to give us the numbers on that fraudulent claim? How much of our $16 trillion Federal debt was created by large, highly profitable corporations paying little or no taxes for decades and the likes of der Mittens paying only a 13.9% Federal tax his $20 million income in 2010?

supposedly won, the math on closing loopholes does not add up, even if one abolishes all of the middle class tax deductions. Boner can go fuck himself.
