Urban VS Suburban and rural. Huge difference. NYT's had a thematic map that looked frightening. n/t adirondacker Nov 2012 #9

stapled together thousands of them over the years. Then they turned to those coroplast signs.

Not using yard signs might work for someone whose name is as known as Barack Obama's but for people who aren't know, it gets their name in peoples' minds.

Even though the saying that "yard signs don't vote" is correct, the lack of signs - at least in Michigan - was noticed. I was talking to an older woman, in her 70s, who asked why she didn't see many yard signs and should she be concerned that Obama was losing. I talked with her a bit about how signs were being de-emphasized by choice, and the reasons for it, and she seemed to relax a little. She still thought it was very odd to see so few. And I have to admit myself that I feel some comfort when I see signs up for the candidate I support. But there's such a thing as false comfort as well.

it doesn't mean that it is all that matters, but it really is important to let everyone on your street know that it is ok to vote for your guy.

If only the other candidate has signs up, that really does say something.

My mother was really worried about all the Romney signs around here. I tried to calm her down by reminding her that in past years there were many Ron Paul signs around, yet he picked up hardly any of the vote.

By election day, more of the neighborhood had Romney signs than Obama signs, yet the precinct went 60/40 Obama.

I think people who feel they are bucking the system might be more compelled to announce it.

The local repub committee must have gone door to door with a party list and planted them on the lawns for people.
They were everywhere. Mid you, I don't think they influence people much.

And I will say one thing, they are almost all gone today.
Embarrassment perhaps?

I saw someone who look like they might be a campaigner going through the neighborhood and removing many of the Romney yard signs.

all I saw were GOP signs, they had placed them just feet apart for all of the ones running. All lost except a local cantidate for senate in Olympia. I didnt see 1 Obama sign. Signs annoy people. And they dont mean a thing.
