NJ: Dumped by Democrats, Cherry Hill mayor keeping options open for re-election bid
Cherry Hill Mayor Susan Shin Angulo has not decided if she will mount an off-the-line primary fight or run as an independent in a bid for re-election after the local Democratic organization denied her party support for a second term.
As of now, I am keeping all of my options open, and I remain focused on guiding Cherry Hill, Shin Angulo said in a statement. When the time is right, I will provide the public with my plans for the future. Stay tuned.
Earlier today, Cherry Hill Council President Dave Fleisher announced his candidacy for mayor and appears to have a lock on the organization line, which would put him on a slate with incumbent legislators and county commissioners.
I am excited about the opportunity to lead as Cherry Hill Mayor and am committed to ensuring the Township is the best place to live, work, play, and raise a family, Fleisher said. I will use my business experience to run the Township in a manner that is fiscally responsible and invests in our neighborhoods so that people can safely enjoy all Cherry Hill has to offer.
Shin Angulo, a former Camden County freeholder, said that for now, she will continue to fight for the residents of Cherry Hill and ensure this Township is the best possible place to live in the state.
