I got it before I turned 50. Worst pain ever. Still feeling it sometimes after all these years. I would not wish anyone to ever get it

I always assumed you had to be 60+ before you could come down with it. I was to-the-wall stressed at the time, way above my normal stress levels, and had an entire house full of people, but having fun with them, just the same. Doc said it was the stress that more than likely brought mine on.

I got the Shingrix shots just as soon as they'd give 'em to me. I never want to experience that pain again! And, like I said, mine was only a mild case!

Had Shingles twice: once in Jr. High & once in college. I wanted to claw my skin off and still have scarring. I pounced when the vaccine was introduced & got it before I was 55.

Surprised she's not being treated in DC.

I tread lightly when it comes to Senator Feinstein. DU does not react well to any critique of her.

I didn't get the vaccine because other family members had horrible reactions, but I already had shingles once, in 2015, so hopefully I get some protection from my previous infection.

Shingles is so awful! I still have nerve pain from it. I was in complete agony for 2 months.

My husband got shingles a week after his second Pfizer vaccine and our doctor told him that could be a side effect of vaccine. His shingles was on his eye and face so it cost us a fortune in specialists. He said his eyesight on that side is still screwed up.

I wonder. The first shingles vaccine was a live virus vaccine and I couldn’t get that one because I take medication that affects my immune system. The newer one is not live virus so I can get it and need too sooner than later.

side of my face and eye. Just one side. Had to take a Greyhound bus to Pittsburgh, as the tour leader said I couldn't go home with them. It was horrible. I went to a hospital in NYC and they gave me pain pills. It really burned and hurt. It ruined my Christmas that year. About all you can do is rest, drink fluids, and take the pain meds. I get the vaccine every year, now. Never want to go through that again.

actually 97% effective. I jumped on it last spring even though I'm not quite 60 years old, when I found out it was covered by insurance. Tougher side effects than any of the COVID shots, but well worth it when I hear what everyone went through who actually had to deal with shingles.

Some drunk also fell against her and fractured her ankle on that trip also. It ended up being just too much for her. She had to go to hospital; ended up developing pneumonia while recouperating and passed after two months in hospital. Her last week was in an induced coma while her lawyers did their best to rip off her estate. She wasn't a complainer, but it must have been pretty brutal from what she let slip in those last letters she dictated while in hospital - that we didn't get from the lawyers until six months after she passed. Not the way I'd want to go.

And it had been the second time she had shingles, she had a milder case in her early '80's.

I wore disposable gloves so I wouldn't scratch my face and it makes you extremely tired. My mistake was thinking that if you had chicken pox, you were immune. I was wrong.

Which is why I got the vaccinations to prevent contracting it.

I understand vaccinations for every virus isn't necessarily a guarantee of never getting this, but still. this wouldn't have been expected.
