If I were one of DeSantis' advisers

I'd tell him to wait till 2028 to run for the GOP nomination.

If he runs in this cycle and gets smashed by Trump, he'll be out of the picture in the future. If he defeats Trump for the nomination, the party will be split, with Trump probably working to undermine DeSantis the candidate. In addition, the GOP candidate will be facing an incumbent, Joe Biden, and most likely a good economy. Four years from now, the Democratic candidate won't be the incumbent president. (Sure, various could happen between now and then to change these parameters, but what I depicted is the most likely situation.)

I wonder if some of his advisers are saying all of this to him, but his ego is keeping him from following their advice.

The mercers, kochs and murdock say they will not back tfg, yet he is not dissuaded nor is his cult. He’s already digging desatan a very deep hole and eventually he’s gonna hit back.

We ALL better know how to duck!!

But I hope he runs in 2024. I want Trump to tear him up and spit him out. Remove him as a threat.

He's term-limited, and can't run for re-election in 2026. His best chance is in 2024, while he's extremely well-known and high-profile.

He's on a rocket trajectory...up fast, and will crash just as fast. He has no real charisma and his style will not fly for long.

When you are hot, you run.

Hillary's people were telling Obama in 2008 it wasn't his turn and to wait and that he has all the time in the world. He was hot at the time coming off the convention speech and his book. Also George W. Bush was a hopelessly unpopular President and a democrat was likely to win the presidency.

Not comparing the two ideologically or as merits of people but DeSantis might have an epic collapse in the Republican Party in Florida. Trump could get elected and will be such a disaster there isn't a chance in hell a republican can win. Nikki Haley might be VP and be the nominee in 2028 if Trump wins.

He has a very narrow opportunity and this is it. Remember all the people who were clamoring for Scott Walker in 2008 in the GOP. The guy didn't even make the debate stage in the next election cycle.
