No one "knows", but this is what I think after listening to snips of Trump's CPAC speech.

Last edited Sun Mar 5, 2023, 03:51 PM - Edit history (1)

When he speaks of being his followers' "justice"---their "retribution"---he is dog-whistling to his most deranged disciples to hurt people, kill people, burn their houses and terrorize their children because all this will be justified and necessary to "re-annoint" him as their "Lord and Savior".

And, can anyone doubt that one of his twisted fascist cultists actually called for the EXTERMINATION of trans folks?

This may frighten some.

It pisses me off---royally!

I agree about law enforcement, it is fine that other people may sue Fox but where the hell is DOJ? Fox can be sued criminally for campaign finance law violations. Fox gave President Biden ads to Trump and also gave info regarding who was watching those ads and how many.

I have no hope that DOJ will do anything about this because it would make them appear to be partisan.

But when Trump says it, you can reverse the words to, "You are my retribution." He expects them to put him in office to get retribution on Democrats, "woke" people, the Justice system, Republicans who oppose him, and individuals and groups who have filed charges against him.

When he expresses it as "I am your retribution," he is enlisting his followers in retribution as a joint project between him and them. It is the same as his J6 speech. He is calling on them to unleash their anger and hatred on the country on his behalf and theirs.

Trump is again calling for violence from his followers and is promising that he will be their partner in it.

The only questions now are: 1) How many of his followers will heed the call and how many will want to avoid further violence after their J6 experience of it, and, 2) Will someone in the Republican establishment arrange for Trump to "go through some things" in order to be rid of him?

Whether he wants people to enact the violence is debatable. He certainly wants to stir people up, get them angry and upset. This makes it easier to manipulate them. People who are riled up don't think clearly.

He's stirring up mob behavior in order to get elected again, and have people go along with things that benefit Trump and his cronies. It's a fascist tactic.

Trump is a sick person who intends to incite others to take revenge on people he doesn't like, but more to the point, Trump wants to create violence and chaos as a sign of power. And you can bet that there are more wary people inside the GOP leadership who are taking note of his veiled threats of violence as a signal that they need to disarm him before he DOES incite widespread mayhem. It's what he wants, and it's not good for a national brand.
