WV-SEN: Manchin says he'll decide his 'political future' in December

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) said on Sunday he would decide his “political future” — whether that entails running for president or for reelection — at the end of the very end of the year, as he faces growing questions about what comes next with his term up in 2024.

“There’s plenty of time for the elections,” Manchin said in an interview with CBS’s “Face The Nation.” “This is the problem with America right now, we start an election every time there’s a cycle coming up.”

Manchin, one of the most moderate Democrats in the Senate, is up for reelection in 2024. But he has yet to commit to running for his seat again, which has been a key hold for Democrats with slim majorities in the Senate.

“I’ve got plenty of time to make up my mind,” Manchin said. “I will make my political decision in December, whatever it may be.”

Despite the fact that his political career will end in January 2025, regardless of what he decides.

WV has only gotten redder, and if Gov. Justice runs, Manchin is toast.

Regardless of the outcome in WV, we can look forward to new progressive senators in AZ and CA in 2024.

is likely toast in 2024. I wish it wasn't so (as he caucuses with us), but Justice, if he runs, has outflanked Manchin on both the left and the right. If not Justice, then some crazed MAGAt will have a great shot at winning in that shambolic State.

That's more realistic, and would have been far easier to do had Manchin supported what is supposed to be his party and his president on voting laws.

The most near-republican is more like it. IMO he'll remain a DINO because if he switches parties he lose his chance of ever being the "swing" vote in the Senate, and all the attention and ego-stroking that being the one with the power to destroy his own party's agenda brings.

As a republican he'll be just another obstructionist in a party of obstructionists. By December he'll be able to better gauge how fellow Dem obstructionist Sinema is faring in her somewhat desperate attempt to remain at the fulcrum of power by switching to being an independent who will allegedly caucus with the Democrats.

Even more discouraging are his fan club members here who still try to censor posts like that.

The man shits all over Biden, hamstrung Biden's accomplishments, cozies up to Moscow Mitch, turns his back on poor people including those in WV, and blocked the voting measures we desperately needed to stop FASCISM for fuck's sake.

The list of "non-moderate" things he's done and said goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on.
