FORMER TRUMP NATIONAL Security Advisor and retired US. Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn is suing the U.S. government on grounds of wrongful prosecution, according to a new legal filing obtained by Rolling Stone. He is seeking $50 million in damages.
The lawsuit stems from a 2016 FBI investigation during the Obama administration over Flynns suspected ties to Russia. In 2017, Flynn pled guilty to lying to the FBI regarding his association with Russian contacts. Shortly after the 2020 election, the former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) received a pardon from Trump.
This lawsuit seeks accountability and damages against the United States for these wrongs committed against General Flynn through its agents and agencies, reads the filing, calling his prosecution wrongful and malicious and a gross abuse of process.
The filing states that as a result of the governments actions Flynn was falsely branded as a traitor to his country, lost at least tens of millions of dollars of business opportunities and future lifetime earning potential, [and] was maliciously prosecuted and spent substantial monies in his own defense.

(32,001 posts)Both Ford and Carter pardoned thousands of draft dodgers, resisters, and people who went to Canada. None of them admitted any guilt. Ford pardoned Nixon. He never admitted any guilt and was not even charged.

(19,372 posts)Seems to be the very definition of a frivolous lawsuit. He plead guilty AND accepted a pardon. His actions caused him to lose future earning potential. I guess co-billing with Kyle Rittenhouse at tent meetings doesnt pay what he thought it would. POS traitor and disgrace to the uniform.

(2,787 posts)just so he can experience military justice, have his pension ripped from him and then be tossed into a Leavenworth prison cell for an unspecified number of years. Even though it would put me in the same city as him, I will willingly suffer the sacrifice just to have him locked away from civilized society. TPUSA should be declared a terror cell and be put on the same list as ISIS, IMNSHO. Their aims are the same as ISIS, the complete and utter destruction of the democracy of the United States of America. They want to turn the U.S. into a theocracy, ala Iran, with their brand of Dominionism as the government and law over us, with Flynn at the head of that law enforcement. I honestly don't think they even really care about Trump. They just see him as the means to an end. He's too dirty. Their belief is whatever is done to achieve their ends is okay as long as it is done in god's name. That means theft, lies, murder, etc. Trump fits right into to that thoughtform.
In this way, TPUSA is worse than CPAC ever thought to be. And it -should- be put on the terror list!

It was just a few years ago when federal prosecutors charged Flynn, accusing him of lying to the FBI about his conversations with the Russian government, lying to investigators about being a paid foreign agent, and acting illegally as an unregistered foreign agent while working on Trumps 2016 campaign.
Flynn soon after admitted he lied, twice pleaded guilty under oath and in open court and became a cooperating witness with special counsel Robert Muellers investigation.
Flynn then changed his lawyers, at which point he stopped helping the Mueller probe and decided he was no longer guilty of the crimes hed already pleaded guilty to. Soon after, then-Attorney General Bill Barr took an interest in the case, and the Justice Department announced it was dropping all of the charges against Trumps former aide.
As difficult as it was to believe, Barrs DOJ concluded that it could not prove Flynn was guilty of the crimes to which hed already pleaded guilty. (A retired judge examined what transpired and ultimately accused the Justice Department of exercising a gross abuse of prosecutorial power.)....
Its against this backdrop that Flynn is now suing, claiming federal law enforcement subjected him to malicious prosecution when they charged him with crimes he had twice pleaded guilty to in open court.
