"SNIP........

A new USA Today/Ipsos poll finds that by a 56% to 39% margin, Americans say the term “woke” means awareness of social injustices, not excessive political correctness.

“The findings raise questions about whether Republican campaign promises to ban policies at schools and workplaces they denounce as ‘woke’ could boost a contender in the party’s primaries but put them at odds with broader public opinion in the general election.”

And this:

"SNIP........

Americans overwhelmingly oppose, by 76%-21%, efforts by state governments to ban certain books from school classrooms and libraries. Last year the nonprofit group PEN America reported that school districts in 26 states had moved to ban some books, often ones that relate to race or gender identity.

The opposition to state bans crosses party lines, including 86% of Democrats, 78% of independents and 66% of Republicans.

the numbers don't do us much good because so many people don't vote. That's why the state I live in is such a shitshow - people too apathetic and lazy to vote, and they're not those who are being suppressed, either, they're the ones not affected by all the ham-fisted BS the fascists are trying to sell.

Also, importantly, aren't mislead by RW propaganda into mistaking issues of basic "woke" decency and equality with "woke" extremism. (Such as conflating Democratic calls for doable actions against police violence with extremist calls for "defunding" -- that one did have enough success to cost us some critical seats, as those who spread it intended).

Call their bluff.

We are so shy or afraid to grab the opportunities when they are here....just because they were stupid enough to try and use it as an insult.

Yes we are "woke". Every time that is thrown at Democrats on the air they should say YES! I am awake to my fellow Americans needs and rights! That's me! Right here! I do not stick my head in the sand and renege on my responsibilities and go to sleep.

Similar to how we just let "antifa" be defined by them as some creepy shadowy terrorist organization. When, like "woke", it is only an abbreviation of something that Americans should be against. Anti Fascism.

They do it with Critical Race Theory. Or Social Justice. A few years ago there was this Fox News push to demonize the word "empathy" as some liberal plot to make Republicans feel bad about separating immigrant mothers from their children.
