Sarah Huckabee Sanders signs hotly-contested education bill into law

In a major legislative victory for Arkansas' new governor, Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Wednesday signed the LEARNS Act into law, making the state the latest to adopt what she calls a system-changing universal school voucher program, which critics warn could decimate the public school system.

Sanders' signature at the state Capitol in Little Rock comes 16 days after the 144-page bill was introduced.

"I am not interested in being a caretaker of the failed status quo. I vowed to be a changemaker for our people," she tweeted ahead of the signing. "Today, I am delivering on that promise, and will sign into law my transformational education plan, unleashing a new era of freedom, opportunity and prosperity for all."

Backed by a Republican supermajority in the state Legislature, the omnibus bill cornerstone to Sanders' education agenda saw a 26-8 vote in the State Senate and 78-21 in the House.

I grew up in the 60s & 70s & I recall the public education system in America being one of the best, back when testing was a small part of the process, & parents didn't have free access to teachers through email/texting, & before republicans had actively filled Boards of Education to influence what's taught & how it's taught. Never forget: republicans hate education for everyone.

"As people do better, they start voting like Republicans - unless they have too much education and vote Democratic, which proves there can be too much of a good thing." ~Karl Rove

Don’t seem to have any knowledge of. Simple science and math. But especially history and civics. It seems younger people may be experts in certain things but are lacking in general knowledge. I think a good overall education is not valued nearly as much as it used to be

and bankrupt the public school systems. It's a conservative money-grab--nothing about the quality of education for kids.

Keep 'em dumb and full of "the good news of Jesus" in order to push their sick un-American agenda.
So the GOP in Arkansas is gonna use property taxes not to support its public schools but instead they
will use it for "Christian Madrassas" to brain wash the young people of Arkansas. Anybody with a brain
is gonna get out Arkansas. Will the last smart person out of Arkansas please turn the lights out.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders and her Ouachita Baptist University degree is long way from the Clintons,
Sen. Fulbright, or Winthrop Rockefeller. Freedom of religion means freedom from religion.
