Senate Republicans are in the dark over Mitch McConnells health status or when hell be returning to the Senate, after their minority leader was hospitalized Wednesday evening for a fall.
I dont know much at this point, the best source of that is going to be his staff, said Senate Minority Whip John Thune (R-S.D.), who said he hasnt spoken to McConnell. We have very limited information on it. Im sure well get more.
The fall took place at the Waldorf Astoria hotel at a private dinner. The McConnell-aligned Super PAC Senate Leadership Fund also hosted an event in the building that evening, which several senators attended, including Thune and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.).
I trust him and his team and his doctors to tell us whats going on, Graham said. Just hope hes doing well.

(17,536 posts)He would be a great loss to the Republican leadership. Mc's knowledge of how the Senate operates combined with ruthlessness has made him a formidable opponent. I hope he both recovers and retires.

(16,858 posts)A fall in the setting of blood thinners often has bad complications, including head trauma. The fact that they've been so few reports as to his status makes me wonder if he might be in worse condition than they're letting on. We shall see.

(3,550 posts)nice of you to say that. 😊 I have seen elderly people seriously hurt themselves in a fall and suffer much. I wouldnt want that to happen to anyone.

(2,167 posts)and after 30 minutes of reading the vitriol here, it was comforting to see your post.
that happens but I dont think Dems should be heartless like many GOPers when someone is hurting. We can - and do - disagree with McConnell for many reasons but thats ok. Being gleeful at his pain is not, in my view.
Have a great day❣️ 😊
