3. Cohen was charged, plead guilty and was sentenced under federal statutes.

The eight-count criminal information alleged that Cohen concealed more than $4 million in personal income from the IRS, made false statements to a bank in connection with a $500,000 home equity loan, and, in 2016, and caused $280,000 in payments to be made to silence two women who otherwise planned to speak publicly about their alleged affairs with TFG. Since Cohen's sentencing was based on more than the Stormy Daniels matter, and was based on federal sentencing guidelines, his sentence wouldn't be a model for TFG's state law crime.

The likely indictment of TFG re: the hush money payments might carry a different penalty. We'll have to wait and see.

and the applicable sentencing guidelines. We won't know the specific charges until the indictments are issued, and at that point it will be possible to look up the range of possible penalties for those charges.
