South Carolina GOP lawmakers propose death penalty for women who have abortions

Republican lawmakers in South Carolina are considering a change to the state’s criminal code that would make a person who gets an abortion eligible for the death penalty.

The bill being considered in South Carolina, dubbed the South Carolina Prenatal Equal Protection Act of 2023, would redefine “person” under state law to include a fertilized egg, giving it at the point of conception equal protection under the state’s homicide laws, including the death penalty.

Don't worry; they'll come back to the more extreme stuff later.

I mean, without their participation, the "crime" would have never happened, therefore, they are accessories to the "crime".

apparent that at least the wealthiest SC males can get away with anything. It's amazing Murdoch got caught and prosecuted.

Just imagine if one of those wealthy dudes impregnated his wife or girlfriend and she needed/wanted to terminate (maybe because he was insisting) -- bet she'd be able to get the procedure. A poor woman, not so much. Afterall, as Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life" film illustrated, every sperm is sacred.

Nothing like small governments intrusion into a woman’s life.

If only all those mothers hadn’t pushed!

people who call themselves "abortion abolitionists" who hold that the biblical response to murder, unlawful killing, is the death penalty, which is lawful killing. They say pro-lifers compromise too much. Saying "guess you aren't pro-life" will get a response of "that's right! I'm following God's law."

They love killing and harming people regardless.
