but what if President Biden issued a complete pardon to anything tRump did while in office?
What would be tRumps reaction?
What would be The MAGA reaction?
Would that kill us in the next election cycle or insure defeat?
It's situation that will never happen but it's interesting never the less.

(115,976 posts)Gerald Ford learned the hard way what the result of pardoning a criminal president is. It's too ridiculous to be worth discussing.

It would once again reinforce that the rule of law does not apply to certain individuals.
It would reverse what Biden has accomplished as it relates to regaining our status on the world stage.
In other words, a pardon of Trump would never happen.

(8,979 posts)In a world of alternative reality, if Biden was ever to blanket-pardon Trump, MAGA world would quickly point to it as proof of Joe being "off-the-rails senile".

(10,096 posts)Like a criminal. MAGATs would follow Trump's lead. They'd all turn it back around on Biden and Democrats with all their vociferous might!
And yeah, I don't think it would get Biden any votes.

(629 posts)and I don't think it would happen. But, I like that you are workshopping this idea. Nothing wrong with that. I agree that it is an interesting thought and I thank you for posting it. Don't let the naysayers discourage your creative thinking.
regarding your questions...it would throw everything into chaos. MAGA would fear a trap, their whole narrative would be moot. Biden would be cursed and reviled by us folks on DU and the news media would be lost and flailing to form a new narrative.

(50,326 posts)Biden has recently (unwelcomely) surprised me with the oil drilling in Alaska, so in the name of kumbayah bipartisanship, I think he'd pardon Trump. It would backfire, of course. The right would still hate him and a whole lot of the left would, too.

(115,976 posts)He acknowledged later that it cost him the 1976 election. I'm sure Biden is very much aware of this.

Who is going to pardon Trump? No one...and state convictions can't be pardoned by a president.

(11,610 posts)Also , Biden Detests tRump after the way the loons have gone after Hunter.
I'm sure he is secretly as thrilled with the legal events of the past few months as we are and loves to see tRump squirm .
Those freaking out with me just asking this question need to take a chill pill. If my title up front and my history here going back many, many years doesn't allay fears of what I am about then I cannot help them.
