Waco, TX: Connect the dots.

Trump's first rally of this season is next week in Waco, Texas. Why Waco?

On closer look, what better place than the home of David Koresh and his cult following? They died when their compound was attacked and burned to the ground by Janet Reno and the Clinton Justice Department.

It is still controversial today about how they died? And who was responsible?

No doubt, Trump will use the occasion to rile up his own cult and will preach to them about the dangers of the weaponization of the Biden Justice Department against him. He will tell them they need to stand behind him if they want to save their country. Sound familiar?

However, Trump will look at the PR value of the trip. He knows the media will talk about the "cult" and that is what he wants. He wants his "cult" to defend him from indictment and conviction.

I suppose it takes a really warped mind to get into the warped head of Donald Trump?

Blame the media at the time but these things stick. Reference a similar situation: The Columbine shooting nearly always references Littleton, CO--even though it was in unincorporated Jefferson County.

I remember watching the helocopters flying for the initial raid. I was visiting friends near Lorena and was heading north when I saw them.

Anybody else notice that they never worked with a gay couple?

I would hope they aren't Trumpers, but you never know.

11. I think they are intentionally apolitical, though clearly religious.

When they were called on comments from their pastor about LGBTQ, they tried to make it clear they don't believe in bigotry. I know for a long time they hadn't worked with a gay couple, but I think that might have changed more recently. Maybe someone who watches regularly can say.

Not necessarily defending them, but just pointing out there is some ambiguity.

Funny thing, at the time Koresh was known as the guy who took over the cult after the previous leaders were killed. Despite that, he was not the most feared cult in the area. Waco was a breeding ground for far right extremists.

I disagree about how events turned out. When an abductor kills his kidnap victim, it is likely that the police could have handled things better, but if the kidnapper is loony, the odds are that the police will be blamed for the outcome caused by a lunatic. Koresh was a lunatic. The fault is with the abductor. Janet Reno didn't burn the compound, Koresh set it up to burn and kill the kids. This was Jonestown all over again.

‘Nuff said. There will be plenty of Trumpers available to soak up his “Christian” hate.
