We all have family, friends or acquaintances who say if it was a Democrat, there would be no case for hush money payments. The case is only being pursued, because "they're" out to get Trump.
I'm going to cite two cases that refute that bullshit comment. Now, I will admit that both cases are not exactly alike but have many similarities.
First, John Edwards. The former NC Democratic Senator was running for President after losing as John Kerry's running mate in 2004. That case was pursued, and John Edwards was indicted. He had urged a political donator and close friend to pay a woman he was having an affair with. He said it was to protect his marriage. Edwards was brought to trial and was acquitted, but the story ended his political career. John Edwards was certainly a high-profile Democratic politician.
The second one is Bill Clinton. I know, Monica was a victim and certainly should not be put into the same category as a porn actress, but the point I'm making is that it was pursued. Clinton was a sitting President and needed to answer questions, under oath, in a deposition. His own Justice Department pursued him, and a special prosecutor investigated and prosecuted him into impeachment. President Clinton and Monica were publicly humiliated, and the former President was disbarred.
My point? Don't tell me Trump is being picked on. It's just that small potatoes for Trump were major scandals for these two Democrats. You see, in both cases, these were the worst scandals of their lives. In Trump's case, rape, treason, insurrection, tax evasion, obstruction, fraud, perjury, attempting to overthrow the government, and on and on, makes paying a porn actress hush money with corporate funds 10 days before a Presidential Election may look trivial. But in reality, it's not trivial.

(13,790 posts)Obamas secret affair(which a total fabrication by the GOBers), Hillary and her emails? These are just a few examples of the unfair treatment that Trump has received? We know what where the truth lies and other lies are hiding in the shadows of evidence that has already emerged from Trumps own mouth!

(1,122 posts)but the point I was making is that people in the same political circumstances as Trump have also been pursued for similar types of scandals.
John Edwards' case is the most similar. Trump is not being singled out and being a politician, or even a President or Presidential candidate, doesn't grant you immunity.

Here it appears they are. Prosecution of falsifying business records in the first degree is commonplace and has been used by New York district attorneys offices to hold to account a breadth of criminal behavior from the more petty and simple to the more serious and highly organized. We reach this conclusion after surveying the past decade and a half of criminal cases across all the New York district attorneys offices.
