(385 posts)Bethany S. Mandel is called a "make believer". So you grew up on government aid and "made my own success myself" huh? That is called make believe you writer of fiction. I awoke to your lameness in the first 7 words of your "book". "Sad" is what the S. in your name stands for. BTW, Social Security is not something you would want to accept since you are such a successful whatever you think you are.

(9,056 posts)I've never heard of her. She's not a liberal trying to smack around the cons, is she?
Is this the same person that struggled to define "woke" in a TV interview recently?

(239 posts)She came across as a clueless idiot. ( She wrote a book on the "dangers" of wokeism but couldn't even define woke.) So now she puts out this arrogant tweet saying that, although she grew up depending on government programs, she became a success with no help. Yes indeed, she pulled herself up by her bootstraps! Talk about living in an alternative reality! She is just as bad as Boebert!

(15,199 posts)Brilliant minds, and all that.
I read Atlas Shrugged as a young person. Ayn Rand is a very persuasive and engaging writer. But I figured out that her whole premise was BS pretty quickly. Apparently Paul Ryan hasn't learned that yet.
To be honest, while going through some old books that needed a new home, I ran across my hard back copy of Atlas Shrugged. Considered selling it at the used bookstore or donating it to the library. Nah. Ended up throwing it into the recycle bin.
