General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsCan I have some "good luck" wishes and vibes from my DU family for a job I want?
I saw an ad for a part time job that fits me to a "T" and I would love to have this job. It's legal work and it is an exact fit to what I like and what I can do and can do very, very well.
The lead atty is an old timer like me and the office is about 5 miles from me.
Thank you for the support!
Edit for typo.

(5,812 posts)I have a certain word processing talent -- a system used many, many years ago in law offices -- and I can still draft pleadings using it. The ad specifically noted that they wanted someone who could do use it.
Fingers crossed...!!!!!

(5,812 posts)While the money for DTLA (downtown Los Angeles) is really good, there is no amount of money that would make me agree to do that frickin' commute. This local job? The rate is competitive with DTLA.
The 405 Frwy is a parking lot during peak commute times. I want a life...outside of the commute!

(159 posts)When you go for your interview, be ready with reasons why you fit the job you think is being offered. Dribble out the reasons one at a time, so you can be sure you and your interviewer are on the same page.
Best of luck to you.

(5,812 posts)This is a firm that has a specialty area and I have over 30 years in that particular and specific legal area. They are also advertising for someone who can use an old time legal word processing system rather than MS Word -- and I use that system all the time. (I can use MS Word, but I hate it.) So, there are some big pluses for me. Also, the senior partner, female, is my age and still working.
Hopefully, I will get the job! There are a lot of similarities and I would love to have this job!

(4,587 posts)once you get into the job if you think you could use the services of a general lay-about sort of person who is also poorly adapted to polite society please note that I am available. My picture can be found in the encyclopedia under "incorrigible old fool". I drink on the job, show up for work on an irregular basis, can usually get 2 or 3 days out of one change of clothes, liberate office supplies for home use as needed and I shake profusely. I was "asked to leave" both high school and college after one semester. The one word that I feel best describes me is dynamic.
