As doctors flee state, Idaho bill expands exceptions for abortion. Health isn't one of them

In an effort to address complaints about an exodus of Idaho physicians, who fear felony charges for providing pregnancy care, an Idaho bill would add exceptions to the state’s abortion ban. But pregnancies that cause health risks isn’t one of them.

House Bill 374, which lawmakers cleared Thursday, would clarify that medical treatment for miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies are allowable under the state’s abortion ban. An ectopic pregnancy is when a fertilized egg grows outside of the uterus, making the pregnancy non-viable.

The bill also would allow exceptions to felony “criminal abortion” when an abortion saves the life of the mother or if the pregnancy was the result of incest or rape. The exception applies only if the incest or rape was reported to police. Currently, the law grants affirmative defenses — opportunities to present evidence in court that negates charges — in those instances.

Additionally, exceptions for rape and incest would be narrowed to apply only in the first trimester of pregnancy.

Medical, anti-abortion groups negotiate language

The Idaho Medical Association in recent months negotiated with lawmakers and Idaho Chooses Life, an anti-abortion group that authored the abortion ban, to make exceptions clearer.

The physician group “reluctantly” supported House Bill 374, although it hoped for an exception for the health of the mother, said Ken McClure, a lobbyist representing the nonprofit trade group.

“There is more good that we would like to see done,” McClure told the House State Affairs Committee. “And it’s, in our view, a disappointment that this bill does not do that.”

Republicans on the committee rejected additional language clarifying that abortions as treatment for “life-threatening conditions” are exempt. Rep. Julianne Young, R-Blackfoot, told the committee Wednesday that the language was too broad.

“The list was endless when we began considering the decisions that would fall under that language,” she said.

Babies will be delivered by paramedics or ER docs.

Or women will hire midwives who will probably be chased out the state too.

This is an attempt to cleanse the state of nonmormons by making their lives suck in that state. They see it is quite effective so they will continue to restrict 20th century norms for some patriarchal control system over every last thing you do, including HOW and WHEN you have sex like they do in their church. Seriously, they want the blasphemers and infidels out of their zion so they can enforce their own sharia laws.

Never forget that the state of Idaho is owned and operated by the church.

But it remains to be seen if Americans can display citizenship and a desire to save democracy.

I hope your belief is accurate.

But time will tell.

There appear to be a sizable number of Americans who are quite willing to vote out democracy.

to grow their economies will leave, it's as simple as that. States need doctors and medical support professionals, they need schools to educate their electorate so they can get jobs and fill their workforce to compete in the economy of the future.

These are the realities. Basically, THEY are losers. "Brain drain" does them no good at all.

Teachers, college professors, PhDs, medical personnel, librarians, etc.

The plan is to damage the US in brutal ways.
A poor, ignorant, frightened population is a docile and early manipulated population.

The impact will last for generations and de difficult to turn around.

Just like the GOP wants to sell as many guns as possible.
It will be very hard to get them back and out of circulation.

Who benefits and how?

They are leagues ahead in the game since the church owns the state and they are just re-establishing their sharia laws that were in place before civil rights became a national thing.

They never had these in the first place. In the NW states, in my experience, the only state that is a worse joke than Montana when it comes to medical care is Idaho and that's pretty bad.

"The list was endless", i.e. an innumberable number of factors may threaten the life of the mother, about which they absolutely do not care.

The only things they're interested in are intimidating, incarcerating and exterminating any one or any thing that dare oppose or impede their Fascist Nat-C depravity.

They'd rather the women die, it's a feature and benefit of the law when you're a murdering fascist turd.
