The view from 10,000 ft

I had a boss once that, during a discussion about an issue, gave me the best advice I ever got when it came to problem solving: "You're too close to the issue. You have to look at it from 10,000 ft. up"

I've been doing that in regards to the Tennessee three. From up close it seems like a bunch of White Supremicists making an example of two young black men and one white woman, for speaking out against their authority. Much of the discussion centers around that.

But what do we know about Republicans?

1. They move in lockstep with each other. There most definitely is a Republican leadership controlling the messaging and motivations of the party.

2. They always accuse the other side of what they, themselves are doing.

3. They are desperate to defend against the onslaught of bad news and/or criminal indictments they know are coming

There are more, I'm sure, but my point is, perhaps the expulsion of the three lawmakers for "breaking decorum" or rules of the body, is in preparation for the anticipated expulsion of Republicans from state and national offices for their participation in J6. They could be setting the stage to claim the expulsion of Rs from office to say it's retaliation for TN.

I think #3 is a primary motivation for what most of the Republicans are doing right now.

Just my 2 cents on a rainy Saturday.

1. Could be, but I think it's simpler than that - basic, old-fashioned racism and sexism.

Two young Black men and a woman got too uppity for the old white men who comprise a supermajority in the TN legislature, and they did it because they could. Gloria Johnson was saved by a single vote - a warning to her that if she doesn't sit down and shut up like women are supposed to do they'll kick her out like they did those uppity Black "boys." The expulsion of the Black men was a warning to their constituency as to the sort of people they should vote for next time: Preferably not Black, but if so, they'd better know their place.

recommends rubbing their noses in their own scat. There must be pushback on a broad front, and this travesty could form the vanguard of this pushback. It’s so egregiously antidemocratic that pushback will resonate with everyone except MAGAts. Let them make their ludicrous claims about retribution once repuQs start getting booted from office and/or indicted. I invite comparison. The more the merrier.

Wanna mess with their minds? How about organizing a series of events centered on discernment - employing techniques to identify and shun logical fallacies in a fun, interesting way. Such an endeavor is above my pay grade, but we have the best minds in the fields of education and entertainment on our side, right?

This would require a 2/3 vote and they control the house. No matter how guilty, they won't vote to expulse their members.

Demographics and opinions of American society are not in their favor. Their solution... destroy elections and democracy so they won't have to win any more elections. The fascist fool despot playbook. Usually ends poorly for them.
