Texas Rep Tells Women Having Miscarriages To Pound Sand

Texas GOP Rep. Tony Gonzales tried to change the subject to the border when confronted with the fact that the drug mifepristone isn't just used for abortion, but by women who have miscarriages as well.

Texas GOP Rep. Tony Gonzales tried to change the subject to the border when confronted with the fact that the drug mifepristone isn't just used for abortion, but by women who have miscarriages as well. Gonzales made an appearance on this Sunday's State of the Union on CNN, and refused to answer any direct questions by host Dana Bash. Here's the first question he deflected on before threatening to de-fund the FDA:

BASH: You're an outspoken opponent of abortion rights, but are you at all concerned that this sets a dangerous precedent that any single judge can simply overrule scientific agencies as they see fit?

GONZALES: You know, on this ruling. I have six children. I am a prolific pro-lifer, and I think it's important that we protect the sanctity of life. I believe in state rights here in Texas, you know, we have a heart bill, a heartbeat bill that was passed, and I think it's important that states dictate their futures.

Rather than push Gonzales on any of his ridiculous assertions and his refusal to answer her questions, she just moved along to the next topic.

Hey Gonzales.....got a question for you and you can listen or read this to Bash, may be you should follow up and instead of looking for ratings be a reporter ....and that judge down in your fascist state....ever hear of Metoprolo....Clopidogrel......these two drugs were approved by the FDA which was funded in some sense by taxpayers at the colleges or research centers before they were willy-nilly put out in the public using placebos and the use of these drugs on humans to see if they work....you know clinical trials.......to keep people like me alive and millions of others, so in your pro-life assertions do you want these drugs to be banned also....after all they prevent death.....or are you all in on woman having miscarriages and dying from internal bleeding.....that's not pro-life that's playing fucking god....and that's what a fascist party is doing playing ......GOD....

C’mon MSM - stop looking for the pretty faces and hire real journalists.

Why be surprised when she does what her job calls for?

It may well be the case that she is directed to not do follow-up questions with right-wing politicians.

She's been with CNN for a very long time. Ya know? Like when CNN was actually good, important, and relevant.

On another note, I saw that MSNBC hired Ana Cabrera (long of CNN). Maybe that's good for us.

Their zealous protestations are the only way it keeps them from being too tempted to act on their impulses. Like some religious fanatics (and maybe some not so fanatic) they hide behind religion because they are afraid of all the things they would do if they didn't have it.

Another commonality between "pro-birthers" and "religious zealots" is that in their defense of their positions they do actually harm and even cause the death of others which I think gives them the pay-off that fuels them to continue.

I had a D & C in search of cancerous tissue. None was found. But my doctor prescribed this medicine for me to take the day before the procedure. This has me so angry. Why does this judge and these ignorant, doctrinaire, authoritarian politicians think they know more than my doctor? I have so, so many curses for them.

Particularly the idea that a partially formed, pre-sentient organism, the continued existence of which is fully dependent on the body of a completely formed, fully sentient organism, has a "right" to continue existing that trumps ANY and ALL rights of the organism upon which it is dependent. That makes absolutely no rational sense to me.

The idea that people who have this belief, due to their personal religious convictions, are convinced that they therefore have the "right" to insist that everyone's choices be dictated by this belief makes even less rational sense. All of them, including Gonzales, need to mind their own GD business and stay the fuck out of other people's uteruses!

He is my daughter’s rep and she reached out to him during the February, 2021 disaster because the area had no water for days. He couldn’t be bothered.
