5-year-old girl killed in shooting on I-880 in Fremont: CHP
REMONT, Calif. (KRON) — A five-year-old girl died after being shot Saturday night on I-880 in Fremont, according to California Highway Patrol (CHP). The shooting took place on as the victim and her family were going out to dinner.
CHP officers said they were conducting a traffic stop with another vehicle when the victims of the shooting approached them and said their daughter had been shot.
Officials said someone pulled up to the victims’ car and fired shots. One of those shots hit 5-year-old Eliyanah Crisostomo. Eliyanah was taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
Her family described Eliyanah as a fun-loving little girl who was closed to her three siblings and was looking forward to celebrating Easter. She was just weeks away from her 6th birthday at the time she was killed.
According to a GoFundMe page in memory of Eliyanah, she was with her parents on the way to a family dinner at a restaurant in Milpitas when the shooting occurred. Eliyanah reportedly died within 30 seconds of being shot.
