Dick Durbin Stop The Blue Slip Scam

Just listening to Thom Hartmann explain the history of blue slip vetoes. This goes back to 1789 when Washington asked advice for his appointments because he didn't have enough information about his nominees.

Judge vacancies are piling up because Magat Senators are blue slipping President Biden's nominees. There is no US Marshall in Missouri since Biden became president.

Dick Durbin does not have to abide by a Magat Senator blue slipping judge nominees, he can call for a vote of the entire Senate.

I guarantee you that if Mitch McConnell was the majority leader he would not be allowing Democratic Senators to veto nominees.

Thom Hartmann said he called 5 different Dick Durbin phone numbers today. C'mon Senator Durbin, this isn't 1789.

president and acted accordingly.

Tired of holding made up crap as actual rules, and more so when this crap is very one sided.

i am listening to his show today and so this time called durbin's washington dc office and spoke to someone, told her why i was calling and she said she would pass the message along. she asked for my zip code.

i'm in illinois but since it pertains to judiciary committee (which effects all the states) i imagine everyone could leave a message about this.

here are his contacts (scroll to bottom of page)

And Durbin is letting Republicans abuse the Senate rules, so Biden is getting zero judicial appointments confirmed. It's so frustrating. We need every single open Judiciary seat filled before 2025

the United States Senate has confirmed 87 judges to the US District Courts, 31 judges for the United States Courts of Appeals and a Supreme Court Justice.

That's an outstanding track record.

Dianne Feinstein is one of the most gifted Senators we've ever had, and she has a long record of getting bills that she's authored passed and getting good judges confirmed.

It is highly unwise to call for our best people to be purged due to temporary medical conditions in my estimation.

Sen. Fetterman has missed a similar number of votes, and--mercifully--no one is calling for him to resign.

Support Democrats.

7. You think Manchin and Sinema will go along with this? Because they won't.

I have no doubt that Durbin would happily do away with this so-called tradition if he could guarantee that whatever judges were nominated afterwards could eventually get confirmed, but as long as we have to rely on the votes of Manchin/Sinema, that won't be happening.

So, you are basically waging a pressure campaign on a good Democrat that is doing the right thing right now because he can't count on Manchin/Sinema.
