Pentagon limits number of people receiving top-secret daily briefs after online leak
The Pentagon has launched a crackdown on who receives its highly classified intelligence after more than 100 briefings were leaked on social media.
Usual recipients of the daily briefings have been struck off the distribution list in recent days as the Pentagon’s joint staff curtails the number of eyes allowed to view the briefings.
A senior defense official told CNN secretive information, which includes briefings on the war in Ukraine and surveillance of Washington’s overseas allies, was being distributed to people that did not need to receive it daily.
The admission comes after a US Air National Guardsman was arrested on suspicion of leaking highly classified Pentagon documents.
