I have something to say about the 2024 Presidential election

https://post.news/@/sevenbowie/2OsG9rKwEs5O9NXpQTICwc3Qh0B

I have something to say about the 2024 Presidential election: If you're not "excited" about who the candidates are (whoever they end up being), tough nuts!

Look, this isn't entertainment, as much as the media likes to treat it like it's a sports event or rock concert. IT'S NOT. This is about deciding who will lead our country for the next 4 years and beyond. It's about which direction our country will move in the future. It's about LIVES. Everybody's. Even those who are too Fox-bubble stupid to realize it.

Sitting home and refusing to vote because you're not "excited", is bullshit. Honestly GROW UP. Being entertained or 'excited' by politics is like wanting to be 'excited' by a root canal. THAT'S NOT THE PURPOSE OF ELECTIONS! So stop expecting it to be. I mean really. DUH.

Sitting home and refusing to vote because you're not "excited" by the choices on the ballot just ensures Republicans will win. Just to remind you who they are, Republicans are the party that is endeavoring to reproductively and sexually enslave little girls and women by taking away access to abortion (surgical and medication), contraception, and any choice whatsoever about their own bodies and make child marriage (statutory rape) and child labor legal.

Republicans are the party who do not believe in public education (or any education - they prefer religious indoctrination instead). They despise science, & facts, they deny climate change, health science, and want to ignore US and world history. They want to silence, imprison, oppress and kill anyone unlike themselves who doesn't think, act, live and look like themselves. And Republicans will never - no matter what happens - support sensible gun laws in this country. While Republicans are oh-so-worried about somebody taking away their guns, they're simultaneously busy actively plotting ways to take away (or cutting or privatizing) your and everyone else's Social Security, Medicare, and any other form of healthcare in America (except that expensive, ineffective for-profit big insurance driven wealth care - they like that). THAT IS WHAT YOU ARE VOTING FOR IF YOU STAY HOME AND REFUSE TO VOTE BECAUSE YOU AREN'T "EXCITED" by your choices on the ballot.

So yea -- get over your sophomoric idea of expecting to be "excited" about elections. That's not the point. And make SURE you get your butts out and VOTE. Because LIVES depend on it. YOURS. And your family's. And MINE. And if they don't this minute, they WILL at some point. Guaranteed.

THAT is the point. THAT is what "pro-life" means.

And political parties are for. I don’t understand anybody who identifies as independent I guess if it sounds good if you’re an American to say independent, but most people know damn well what side they’re on. I read that more people are likely to change religion during their lifetime than political parties, I don’t know what to do about that

Dems try to do something good that will help people. Republicans sabotage it. Then voters blame...Democrats. Healthcare, social security, COVID, student loans, ACA, etc.

Are they really that blind & ignorant?

to be angry that someone is getting help. It really does.

I paid all of my student loans, but college was cheaper in the 80's.

In any case, I don't resent others getting a break. I'm happy to see that they get to move on with their lives, with one less thing hanging over their heads.

It is the 'Hollywood'ization of the political process. Thanks to decades of repression by the rethugs, some states have generations of people who lack critical thinking skills and so they look to entertainment because both their rethugs heroes and their movie heroes promise the same thing. But, they lose the fact that only the movie hero will actually deliver and that will only be in a pleased feeling as you leave the theatre. These people are unable to differentiate between the two any longer. So, yes, it is the rethug propaganda but it is also that culturally enforced ADD that makes actually using one's brain to reason out why certain people are going to be better governing officials than others just too difficult for some of the population.

The fact that business does the same thing means that they validate each other in their pipe dreams. And, enough us fall for it that it keeps them in the game.

I am discouraged that we seem to be re-fighting the same battles we have already won. Roe v Wade, for example.

I believe the historians will declare Citizen United as the critical piece of legislation that has destroyed this Democracy.

I believe it was Nikita Khrushchev that declared in the 1950s that.... "We will destroy you from within without firing a shot!

IMHO, not all men were created equal Citizen United has proven that. Never have truer words been spoken.

The is no equality in the public space between real persons and the created "limited" persons.

If liability is limited, the opposite should also be limited.
Corporations are not people and there is no Constitutional nor Supreme Court ruling to the contrary (if T. Hartman is to be believed).

BTW, how is it that legislatures can pass laws benefiting only one class of citizens (unnatural persons)?

Their damage was through the tsunami of lies to discourage OTHERS from believing in and voting for Democrats.

BernieBros were just among the anti-Democratic/anti-Hillary groups teaming to defeat us: the Bros and other hostile leftists, tRumpists, GOP, RW business. religious right, right-leaning MSM, foreign political psych ops, etc, etc. Russia mainly just augmented the rest, including the Bros.

Fortunately, a lot people did learn after 2016 and have been continuing as we fight to save our democracy.
