California Penal Code § 401 PC makes it a crime to assist or encourage someone to commit suicide. Aiding suicide is a felony punishable by up to 3 years in jail. A judge can award felony (or formal) probation in lieu of jail time.

It took many years and trying many different drugs and therapies for her to get to the even plateau she's on now. I would have done anything to help her survive. I would have embraced anything.
