Just saw this on MSNBC, The Last Word.
That's a damn good ad. Needs to be on every channel.

(153,182 posts)I'm reminded of when I saw a teenaged boy wearing a Charlie Manson t-shirt....I talked to him, asked him, do you know, do you understand exactly what Charlie Manson did? And I told him.....he was appalled..

(2,219 posts)She comes out with her child and sees it shocked.
Neighbor is working on his car in his driveway and sees the woman's shock. He looks around the corner of her house and sees it.
Later she comes home with the kid and the garage door has been repainted. She looks at the neighbor's shoes with white paint on them. Their eyes meet and she silently mouths "thank you".
Very moving ad. Well done.

Maybe it's little girls voice.
There's a lump in my throat.
A dear friend of mine grew up in Oak Ridge, Tennessee; being Jewish, he faced a lot of hatred. 😟

The Jewish mom is having a hard time explaining to her young daughter what the graffiti on the garage door means. They leave, and when they return, it's gone. The mom sees white paint on the neighbor's shoes and mouths "Thank you" to him.
Both ads are powerful.

(2,746 posts)Too many of us parents and grandparents don't really know what our kids are doing online. I sure didn't when my sons were growing up. It'd be nice to have tools.te
The ads give practical tools for ways to stand up against the hate. I've felt ineffectual.

Fascist ideas were quite popular in 1930s America
In the 1930s, fascist ideas were increasingly accepted. This was reflected in the energetic growth of Nazi organizations. Ku Klux Klan rallies were common and numerous; Trumps own father was arrested at one such rally, reportedly while wearing a Klan outfit. A 1941 book found that more than 100 such organizations had formed since 1933.
The appeal of fascist ideas extended far beyond the fringe, reaching prominent citizens such as Henry Ford and Charles Lindbergh. Lindbergh went so far as to praise Adolf Hitler as undoubtedly a great man. In 1940, Lindberghs wife published a bestseller that called totalitarianism The Wave of the Future and an ultimately good conception of humanity.

Father Coughlin plagiarized Goebbels and wrote fan letters to Mussolini. Today there is Fox, Newsmax, etc., to replace him but now the "little people" also have social media that allows them to sit in the comfort of mommy's basement reinforcing and spreading their hate on a personal level all day long.
