PA: Sara Innamorato is about to get a big boost in the race for Allegheny County executive
A union-backed progressive group is injecting a whopping quarter-million dollars into the TV ad wars over who will lead Allegheny County.
The Working Families Party, which last month endorsed state Rep. Sara Innamorato for county executive, has booked almost $260,000 in broadcast and cable TV ads running through the May 16 Democratic primary election, according to AdImpact. The service tracks political advertising.
Assuming the ads will support Ms. Innamorato, they will effectively double her campaigns own outlay on commercials a figure that reached almost $261,000 as of Thursday, according to AdImpact. Her ad spending has significantly lagged rivals John Weinstein and Dave Fawcett in the six-way Democratic primary for county executive.
Mr. Fawcett and Mr. Weinstein have spent north of $500,000 apiece on ads, while outgoing County Executive Rich Fitzgeralds political committee just started buying ad time to support his preferred successor, Pittsburgh City Controller Michael Lamb. Buyers can add to, reduce or cancel future ad reservations
