Ron DeSantis says Florida is the Iowa of the SoutheastThe Governor recently said Florida was the 'Utah of the Southeast,' so this continues a theme.
The Florida Governor offered high praise for the Hawkeye State, though it was probably familiar to those who have heard more than one of his speeches.
I was here in March and someone kind of took note and theyre like, Man, look at all the stuff Iowa is doing. Iowa is like the Florida of the Midwest. But I just want to let you know, after watching all the good stuff youve done in Iowa, it may be that Florida is the Iowa of the Southeast, DeSantis said.
The remarks, which DeSantis repeated verbatim in Cedar Rapids in the evening, were essentially a rehash of those made at the Utah Republican Convention last month.

(28,340 posts)Have we heard anything from childhood mates? I seriously would like to know how long he's been this freakish. He's so awkward it's deeply painful to watch.
C'mon little boots. Try harder. Or quit trying so hard. Maybe both.

..so he could pretend to care about Floridians. He looked strange. But he also has those autocratic vibes all over the place.
I remember some of us used to call Dubya Baby Caligula because of the father-complex thing.

Not intended. 'a cross dressing fetish' does not mean someone is gay.. And no - having some experience in BDSM relationships - being top or bottom, dom, domme or sub is nothing to be ashamed of - but treasured. But my own experience, when I was scening, is that cruel bullies were likely to be sucessful tops or doms, but could thrive in a release from responsibility.
Anyway I apologize. I have deleted the comment It would be better if I stayed away from pop psychology - for all concerned.

(51,308 posts)Why do you thin he is gay? what reason has he given to for you to think that?
Nah, it's just a handy insult that I would have thought DUers would have stopped with long ago.

(9,259 posts)That's what I meant by 'a cross dressing fetish'. But I should have known better than to go there.
As for the other stuff -

(51,308 posts)As far as I know, I've never known one, but how would I know really?
I'm a gay woman, so if I've known any cross-dressing straights, they never enlightened me as to that lol.
Apology accepted. Thank you.
You are in the minority as far as people who apologize for those type comments, and I have the utmost respect for someone who apologizes when they realize their words might be taken the wrong way.

(9,259 posts)both in committed relationships. It is a kink they share with their partners but don't go around dressed up in public. They have online groups where they share their fetish. It's more common than you might think, but a stupid thing to say. Sorry.
Ron DeSantis definitely gives me BDSM vibes, but it is better for all concerned if I stay clear of pop psychology (here).

(51,308 posts)Funnily enough, in my wild young Key West days, I had more than a few propositions to join in with straight couples. Never offensively propositioned, but not my thing.
I might have learned more had I accepted!
IF you get the vibes, you probably know more than most. I have accurate gaydar for the most part, though I have been wrong...maybe

(46,730 posts)The reality is that Florida residents are very diverse, with strong regional differences. The one thing you can't say is that we are anything like a Midwest state.
You would think a governor of this State would have figured that out.

(32,707 posts)Anyone who wants to live in Utah or Iowa or any other barely populated state is free to do so. No need to forcefully turn Florida into something it's not. He is not well. He needs to be in therapy somewhere hashing out whatever issues and grievances he has due to his height. My brother is around the same height but he definitely does not have the psychological issues and obsessions that tiny D has.
