I don't see the media declaring him the nominee; I see them noting that he's the clear front-runner. That is an accurate statement at this point in time and will be so until someone emerges as an actual threat.

I'm not sure what ignoring his status accomplishes, but some people seem to want to do that.

As for the indictments, I'm not sure what left-leaning media you're referencing, but MSNBC talks about them non-stop, particularly in their evening shows. It's often all they talk about.
