It just means they are getting ready to withdraw. They need cover, so they "lose" their informant. Perhaps they couldn't find anyone who wants to perjure themselves in front of Congress, and the nation, and so that's it.

Why Republican voters can’t see through the constant BS their elected representatives spout instead of doing actual governing continues to be a mystery to me. These people are on record saying they want to cut Social Security and Medicare, take away healthcare for the poor by cutting Medicaid entirely, and forcing children to go hungry by cutting SNAP benefits. A lot of Republicans rely on those programs, but it never seems to occur to them that they would be hurt if they vote for Republicans and give them majorities to enact their policies. Why is this concept so hard to understand?
