Latino truck drivers are threatening to boycott Florida over DeSantis's new immigration law

DeSantis's new immigration law makes any out-of-state driver's license void if the person using it is undocumented.

If you look Hispanic and don't have papers, they will seize your license and deport you unless you can prove citizenship. It's not worth the risk, they won't go.

Florida is very dependent on road freight for commerce. They may begin to experience shortages in perishable goods soon if this trucking boycott is successful. Who knows what they're in for? There are already reports of labor shortages at construction sites, and things are bound to get worse before they get better. Boycott Florida!

For many decades I used to defend the Cuban "exile" community in S Fla.

No more.

Back in the 6th grade in the early 60s, my teacher taught us the difference between free states and non free states.
One of the examples he gave was the need in non free state to have papers on you so you could get thru checkpoints.
WW2 was not that long ago and the cold war was in full bloom. Checkpoints was something a 6th grader could understand. The teacher Mr Bush, was one of the better teachers i ever had.
I learned a lot from his class.
This would have him spinning in his grave.
