The Sun Sentinel recently ran a story on Dr. Joe Ladapo's side hustle. See the story here: http://bitly.ws/ETyu
In addition to his $250,000 salary as Florida's Surgeon General, Ladapo receives $262,000 from the University of Florida. The article describes his duties and actual work for the university so far:
Ladapos contract at UF requires him to do research and clinical teaching, but the only documented research at UF is Institutional Review Board approval for a single study on reducing cardiovascular risk in HIV-infected adults, the university said in response to multiple public records requests.
When questioned about his job duties at UF, Ladapo told lawmakers on April 24 he has given academic talks and taught in two courses at the university one on health policy and one on HIV. UF public records obtained by the Orlando Sentinel and South Florida Sun Sentinel indicate he gave a single guest lecture in each of those courses, which were taught by other professors.
He told lawmakers at the April 24 ethics committee meeting he has plans to teach in the future.

(3,770 posts)I wonder how many hours the rest of us would need to put in to earn $262,000? I realize he should earn more than most of us since he is a doctor, but something about this story stinks!

(82,849 posts)Can I have $262,000? I know that Republicans, fiscally responsible folks they like to style themselves as, are just death on waste, fraud and abuse of taxpayer dollars. Maybe they can stop fretting (for just a moment) about some single mother of three getting $7 too much in monthly SNAP benefits and look into this? If their super busy schedule permits, of course.
